Welcome to Needham Golf Club
The Town of Needham acquired rights to the land that the Needham Golf Club now occupies in 1898. At that time the land was part of the watershed area to the Town’s water supply. The then town “Water Board” had oversight responsibility for the land. The Water Board authorized the construction of the golf course and gave the Needham Golf Course the charge of protecting and maintaining the land and the water supply. Wayne Stiles, a disciple of Donald Ross, was secured to be the golf course architect. The Needham Golf Course was first opened for play in 1901.

The Needham Golf Club was incorporated in 1923 as a non-profit organization. It was once again given the charge by the Town to protect and maintain the water supply for future use.  Since that time, the land has been upgraded and maintained by the Club at no cost to the Town.

Today, the Needham Golf Club represents a dynamic cross section of the men, women, seniors, and juniors of Needham. The members include doctors, lawyers, teachers, plumbers, electricians, accountants, real estate agents, executives and small business owners. Many of members have now or had previously children in the Needham school system. A number of the members have been or are now coaches and administrators in a number of the youth sports programs. Many of the members are small business owners or work in the Town. A number of the members also proudly serve their community as elected town officials.

Needham Golf Club has provided two $2500 scholarships to High School students in 2005, and three $2500 scholarships in 2006 and 2007.  In 2008 the club is proud to announce that there will be four $2500 scholarships awarded!

Needham Golf Club has run many fund raising golf tournaments over the years including the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation event. Over $115,000 has been raised for this outstanding charity.

Needham Golf Club is also proud to be the home course of the Needham High School Golf team. This service is happily provided to the Needham Public Schools at no charge.
